a make-under evening with BareMinerals, Windsor

An Evening with BareMinerals Windsor

Last Thursday I was invited for a fabulous evening at the BareMinerals boutique in Windsor, in celebration of their new skincare range, Skinsorials. The event was slightly different to a usual beauty event, in the sense that I had one of the lovely ladies from the store giving a one to one consultation instead of a group session.

I was looked after by Ellie, who was extremely welcoming and chatty throughout! We had a good old natter as she talked me through each of the products.

In the first picture you can see all the skincare products Ellie used to prep my face. She started with the Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil to get rid of all traces of makeup and dirt, similar in function to a micellar water. It felt very silky on the skin and incredibly light, without leaving my skin greasy. She then used the Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser as a second cleanse. As the (unnecessarily) long name suggests, this cleanser transforms from clay to cream as the formula breaks down on skin. Normally after cleansing my cheeks tend to flare quite red but after these two steps my skin was much less so.

Ellie then introduced me to the most important feature of BareMineral's new range, Skinlogevity Vital Power Infusion, the star product if you will. She covered my entire face with two drops of this serum, and let it sink in. My skin instantly felt very smooth, a nice pre-step to the True Oasis Oil Free Replenishing Gel Cream (again with the stupidly long names!), a thick but silky moisturiser from the new range.

This wins hands down for the best smelling product out of the range, thanks to the notes of Bergamot and Eucalyptus, it's heavenly! I find the use of "gel cream" a little pointless, as it is essentially a light moisturiser. Silly names aside, this similarly sunk in quickly and didn't leave my skin feeling too heavy or sticky. I must say I found it a little strange having so many skincare steps before makeup, as I normally just moisturise and use a primer before applying makeup.

Nevertheless, I very much enjoyed the extra pampering before I got to try out some of BareMinerals best products! Above you can see all the products that Ellie used on me. I'm already a huge fan of Complexion Rescue so I was intrigued to see how it worked with the rest of their range.

I've wanted to try the Prime Time Neutralising Primer for a long time, as I'd heard it was good for balancing out uneven skin tones. I was pleased to see it made a noticeable difference in neutralising most of the redness on my cheeks, and left my face feeling smooth. The formula comes out a rather scary-looking yellow colour but it blends in with your skin tone.

With BareMinerals new range, their already popular Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream has been updated with 6 new shades, in order to reach an even bigger audience. My original shade is was 02 Vanilla, but I actually found after being matched to 1.5 Birch suited my skin tone that little bit more! Ellie showed me how to perfectly blend the foundation in with the Smoothing Face Brush, with circular motions until seamlessly blended. I found it a little difficult to adapt to this technique since I'm so used to blending my foundation with a stippling brush, but after a bit of practice I could see the effects!

The next product she used left me so tempted to buy right there and then, I'm such a highlighter fan. The Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo combines a mattifying powder which instantly disappears on skin, and keeps oil at bay on my t-zone, along with a beautifully baked highlighter on the right. I couldn't see a trace of glitter in this, which is what I really can't stand in a good highlighter! It similarly disappears and blends seamlessly when applied to skin, leaving a beautiful sheen along the cheekbones.

Ellie applied both sides with the Dual Finish Blush & Contour Brush, pictured above. Whilst I must admit the two colour side brush comes across a little gimicky, the white side was perfect for depositing the right amount of highlighter on my cheekbones without leaving me looking like a disco ball! She then used the dark side to apply bronzer. I explained to Ellie that I normally avoid applying bronzer because of my pale skin and my aversion to the muddy bronzer look.

However, she used the perfect amount of READY Bronzer in Skinny Dip, whilst showing me the right places to lightly apply it with the brush. I am much less petrified of using bronzer now, as my face was left more defined without looking brick-like or muddy. The finishing touch to my lovely make-under was one of their classic products - the original Mineral Veil in Fairly Light. A wonderfully light powder which sets your makeup in place without looking cakey.

An Evening with BareMinerals WindsorI was lucky to receive a small goody bag at the event as well to try out some of their new and classic products! I left the event feeling like a truly pampered princess, I had a lovely and relaxing evening. Ellie is an amazing makeup artist and I'm sure I will be back soon for another consultation.
